As an overachiever, what do you do that may be considered "above and beyond" for your customers? Will you share any of your no-cost or low-cost secrets for "wowing" your clients or customers?
Hi Mike,
I find ways to help my clients get PR, by reading the news stories reporters are looking for experts. Then, I send them the lead.
Also, I send inspiration to them as I get it. Once or twice a week, I find and inspirational video or quote that touches me, and I send it out to them.
Aha, an inspirational quote or video . . . great idea! Do you mind if I steal that idea from you?
When you say video, are you talking about something like a youtube video or something else that you produce or purchase?
I am often finding myself sending articles or links to articles that I think are appropriate. I recommend a lot of books. I also buy some books for gifts. (I must admit that these books often support a position or strategy that advocate for.)
As a born-again over achiever I do run into snags over time. I am sure that this will be a nice group to get thoughts from true BIG THINKERS.
I never considered it above and beyond but the biggest thing that has helped me even when I wasnt feeling good about myself is that I always spoke to or made significant physical action like hug or even hearty pat on back while saying the persons name in passing on the way to thank someone else.
I think that because my voice can often be soft that many people havent heard some my gestures over the years, especially in a loud environment. I hope to improve my speech and feel like my renewed confidence will allow a sincere attempt.
I have joined Toastmasters to improve my speaking skills. I am understanding with time, that it is much about being able to be yourself in front of others. The more true to yourself you are, the better and more engaging speaker you will be considered. I am learning to use humor to touch people. In fact I discovered that this comes natural to me, when I am myself. So I strongly recommend anyone wanting to be a more confident speaker on any occasion to join Toastmasters.
