Setting mutually agreed upon rules works. I have this with m busband, since I work from home. The big rule is: don't get offended if I stick with the rule and don't pay attention:)"

Oh it is a challenge for sure trying to balance self employment and working from home. I find that my children (both adults mind you) seem to think because I am home I am available to them at any moment. I guess they are not taking me & my passion for my work seriously. Any suggestions for me on how to get them to respect what I am doing & take it seriously?

I agree! For me it is putting my friendships, supports and alliances at the top of the list, as that is the creative energy that brainstorms new and fresh ideas. I can then tackle the top of the to do list with a fresh perspective. Smelling the roses is so very important.....when I lived on Saltspring Island we called it "time on the water"

Ah, yes, time management for the self-employed + working out of the house, a dual challenge.....I found the principles of the "7 habits" by Covey a good start. What I do for myself is: make a list every day of what has to get done and what would be nice to get done, and just do it, I clean up the list daily. Then I ask myself what is the highest and best use of my time, Then the big one for me: I sit and meditate every day to stay centered and focused on what is important. Keeps life in perspective and allows me to smell the roses:)

I have turned my passion for horses into a home business and loving it! What I am working on is time management, and marketing-it has become an exciting adventure in personal growth.

I love it! This is part of what I do for a living, helping people live their passion and make money at it. Check out my web site, basic but it says what it needs to say, at least for now... www.workingSoulfully.com . I am a believer, a practitioner and a supporter of this concept.

I agree about wanting to make sure the passion remains even after the profits are coming in! I also have a lot to learn & who better to learn with than a group of passionate people who are focused on the same ends? :)
