How Can You Help Us Think Bigger?

Michael Port speaks out about James Arthur Ray

The tragic death of three people attending a "spiritual retreat" with James Arthur Ray has made me so angry that I'm having trouble finding words to express myself. But I'm going to try because, to me, silence is acceptance---and there has been a deafening level of silence from other "teachers" in the spiritual-help "community." Though, I am not in the "spiritual-help" business, I do write business-help books, and am close enough to, and sometimes, much to my annoyance, associated with James Ray… Continue

Leading and Learning

After a recent speech on Think Big Manifesto a woman slipped me a note.

It was a poem by Natasha Josephowitz.

My right hand is held
by someone who knows more
and I am learning

My left hand is held
by someone who knows less
and I am teaching

Both my hands must be held
for me to be

-end-

The future belongs to the learner. The future belongs to the leader. We must be both to create an expansive and collaborative world in which all people have the opportunity for full self-expression.

Thanks Mike. I'm reading your book. You impacted me with an interview you gave on PBS. I heard your "hoo" and my intuition told me, he's wise, now my reasoning has confirmed it. Allow me to quote you from page 54, " Become a kind person who lives best when you express yourself and who accomplishees bigger and bigger goals by collaborating with others." Count me in as your collaborator. I hope you that publish The Think Big Manifesto in Spanish and please take the message to my people in Puerto Rico, specially Vieques, PR. They will love you and you will love them back. My love and respect.

I'm just listening to your audio on the sidebar. Love it! I'm so sick of the deception that seems to permeate the sales profession. It's refreshing to hear you.

Hi Michael,
Thanks for creating this site. I've thoroughly enjoyed "Book Yourself Solid" and "The Contrarian Effect", and am looking forward to re-reading BYS this month, DOING ALL THE EXERCISES, and re-steering my business in 2009. I've had a passion for travel and I love my work but previously didn't "think big" enough to allow for me to create a lifestyle where I do the work I love AND travel. BYS helped me shift my thinking, and I'm very excited about the new directions I have planned for 2009. Thank you again!
