Everyone knows that Southwest is a bit different than just about every airline out there. Being different is likely one of the reasons for their success.
From the moment you step on board Southwest seems to actually care. Don't you think it's strange that's all it takes to set the airline apart from the competition? But they don't just care. You get the feeling that most of the employees care more about taking care of their customers than they do about the rules their… Continue

The phrase "As Seen on TV" is not used by accident. Stores like Bed Bath 'n Beyond have entire sections devoted to products that carry this label. As a marketer it gets you a lot of credibility.
I came across this ad today.
This ad has a lot going on for it on a number of levels. There is implied credibility "As seen on ABC, CNN, MSNBC, USA Today." I haven't checked but I can almost assure you this company paid to be on each as an… Continue

Ever struggle with accomplishing something? You can call it procrastination, but on a large scale it could mean never opening the business of your dreams or reaching a goal in your life you have always wanted to obtain.
The common Christian sees an obstacle and says “I’ll pray about it.” You hear this in the church all the time, and many times the only thing missing is action. So, what is my advice to you? Stop praying.
“But,” you claim, “doesn’t this advice go against… Continue

Remember this isn't a sheet of paper. Online, people scan. It's your job to make sure things on your page stand out. Here's what needs to be on your linkedin page.
I was interviewing a guest on Coach Radio when he mentioned an online service that I just needed to check out.
Right away testimonials for the service began scrolling in a twitter feed. That wasn't unusual, but one of my friends popped into the box right away. Instantly I recognized his picture.
I unpacked an external DVD drive this morning to find it tucked in a box, neatly wrapped in plastic. The thing that got me were two stickers on the outside of the plastic informing me to remove the plastic.
Now, sometimes I'm not the sharpest nail in the box but even I realized I needed to remove the plastic before I could use the thing. I mean, I couldn't even open the cover of the drive to put a CD in without taking the plastic off.
I was at a Free Agent Academy (affiliate link) event this weekend helping people think through their ideas and turn them into a business. You don't need a lot of ideas though, you just need one and then you need to act.
The Free Agent Academy (affiliate link) members I spoke to yesterday in the mountains of Colorado don't believe that statement. We spent a few hours together reviewing how I use many forms of media in my business and how they can do the same.
If you're starting or growing a business you better be ready for the hard work of growing a community of 1,000 people. It's much easier to grow from 1,000 subscribers (newsletter, podcast, blog readers, etc.) to 10,000 than it is to get your first 1,000.
Seriously. How many times have you tried to convince someone their idea was wrong when they didn't ask for advice? I'm guessing that nearly 100% of the time they didn't take your advice.
Roy Williams quotes a friend as saying "Unsolicited advice is abuse."
Help the people who want and ask for your expert advice. Spend your time there. Everything… Continue

I interviewed my friend John G. Miller (author of QBQ, Flipping the Switch and Outstanding!) on yesterday's radio show and the issue of breaking the rules came up.
Breaking the rules could get you a big raise or even a promotion. It could also get you fired. What's the difference? Management.
I actually mention in this video that you can't. You can't change what google shows and you shouldn't even be worried about it. The truth will speak clearly. If bad reviews are truthful, they'll always be there until you change your company. Only then will the good reviews overshadow the bad.
