The Think Big Revolution

No - I didn’t write it wrong. Have you noticed that kindness invokes happiness for both the giver and the receiver? It’s a wonderful feeling to perform a kind act for a friend, loved one or stranger. The more you give of yourself to others – the happier you are going to feel. Let’s think BIG about what we can do each day for someone we come into contact with. Happiness must be shared! Share your thoughts and happy experiences every day! This is your chance to put a smile on someone’s face.

Debbie - you are a delight. Many years ago, I committed to make a difference in one stranger's life every day. Create a smile, or cause someone to laugh or feel good about something. Except for a few days when I was recovering from pneumonia, I have been able to stay on track with that goal. Hopefully, it put some good energy into the world. But for me, even though this was not my intention, it has been a priceless gift of happiness and positive energy that I give to myself as well. And, having sat in the Philadelphia airport with you for a bit, your positive energy and radient smile is bound to make a difference to everyone you meet - it did to me!

I've been bringing my clothes to the same Dry Cleaners for quite a few years now. When I first started going there, the owner - a very gruff man, would just grab my clothes, ask for my phone number, give me my ticket and turn away. I always walked out thinking how unhappy that man must be. One day I walked in and mentioned how beautiful it was outside. The man seemed surprised and looked out the door but made no comment. Another time I went in saying how wonderfully warm it was in their store compared to how cold it was outside. This got a small smile and nod from the man. After that, I always made sure I had something to say whenever I went to the store. Today – the man SMILES whenever I come in and he usually starts the conversation by calling me by name. I noticed the other day he is doing the same for other customers too. I have no idea if I had anything to do with him being less gruff but I do know it makes me feel good to go there now because I always walk away with a smile on MY face.
