Remember, your job performance comes from how valuable you see yourself. not necessarily from your job position. Only the knowlege of your job comes from your job position. You want to continue to refine your value, expand it, or create better rules for it. We live in a dynamic world where our identities must continually expand in order to enjoy a greater quality of life. We need to become more aware of things that may influence our identities. notice whether they are empowering or disempowering us, and take control of the whole process, otherwise, you and I become a prisoner of our own past.
The greatest athletes and coaches in sports are never completely satisfied with their current performance level or achievements. Theres always another hill to climb, another challenge to overcome. Michael Jordan was generally considered the best basketball player ever long before he retired from the game the first time. Still he continues to refine his game and build even further on his physical and mental strengths. The same is true for Wayne Gretzky in hockey, Tiger Woods in golf, Donald J. Trump in business. The best become the best because they are always bettering their best everyday.
Here are a few questions you want to ask yourself consistently:
- "What can I do to go to the next level?"
- "How can I make this day much better than yesterday?"
- "How can I do a much better job today than I did yesterday?"
Thriving on challenges has never been a problem for me. The most significant challenges are the ones you give to yourself. As an assistant youth wrestling coach, I'm always finding ways to keep growing myself as a champion so I can add more value to my athletes.
Don't ever think you've done it all already or that you've done your best. Thats shutting down your own potential. Unless you've passed away, theres still alot more you can do. Theres always more you can pull out of yourself. You can always go deeper. Theres an old saying: :He who know everything knows nothing." Realize that your value is limitless and make each day a great one for yourself, and for others.
Well. That is all I have for today. Thank you for reading these very powerful words.
