Secret # 3 Master the New School of Marketing
The Global Economy and the Internet have revolutionized the way people and whole countries relate to each other and these changes are especially visible in the new ways of marketing products and services. All businesses small and large are exploring seriously other ways of letting customers know about their products since the traditional methods are less and less effective every day.
We receive so much input of information that our minds discard quickly anything that is not really outstanding and relevant. We know that many people switch their TV channels when a commercial is shown. Others look at printed advertisement as litter.
The new school of marketing avoids creating so many interruptions and focuses in building relationships on-line and offline instead, usually combining both strategies. This can be extremely cheap compared to traditional marketing strategies. Entrepreneurs and small business owners benefit enormously from this trend since they normally do not count with the enormous resources the big companies invest in advertising and publicity.
Many marketing experts summarize the intention of this new strategy in an acronym: TOM. It stands for Top Of Mind. It means that in order to be taken into consideration and remembered by potential customers you have to offer something really unique and remain very visible in the middle of the hundred other similar choices they may have.
Celebrity-minded marketing and the use of the social media are great ways to achieve this kind of remarkable state at a very low cost.
The main reason why most people struggle in marketing nowadays is that they are not getting enough exposure. The average person nowadays needs many more exposures than before to trust someone enough to buy due to new forms of advertising like the Internet, popup ads, billboards, commercials, etc.
. This is why cold calling is not effective. Instead, you want to get in front of your ideal client many times over. Good solutions are speaking, networking, a weekly eZine, tele-seminars, articles, podcasts, postcards and anything else to remind them of how your product or service can help them .
As a coach I educate my clients on the fundamentals of networking. I help them understand how to network effectively to create relationships off-line and online as well as to increase their visibility effectively. Solid interpersonal skills and the right mind frame when interacting with others is something that can be taught and learned as I have tested over and over with our personal experience.
One of my friends decided to find new ways of promoting and marketing her real estate business. Her only purpose was bringing her income back to the level it was before the current crisis. She started exploring the use of the social media and worked consistently developing tools to market on line. This way she created a huge network of friends, affiliates and followers that put her back to earning a six figure income.
